Introductions > Summary of Paulina’s Talk by Esor Chang, Stevenson Middle School student
I liked her talk because she explained it good. First she told about the crews and the 2 canoes Maisu and Hokule’a. She also showed or tell me all the names of the crews on the Hokule’a – Pohnpei leg (Nainoa, Billy, Maka, Max, Timmy, Nick, Gary, Lehu, Keoni, Kaiulani, Pomai, Ana, Marjorie, and her). Each person has work to do on the canoe. The voyage was about 7 days. They used the sky such as clouds, followed by birds, looking at the sea. Finally, they saw land but with problems along the way. First, there was little wind. Second, there was a little storm or squall. It was pouring rain and they got wet. Finally, they went on the island and it was very beautiful. People praised them and welcomed them. They went to the island Satawal to honor Mau Piailug, the best navigator on the sea. It was a fantastic celebration. That’s the journey!
Pictures! I saw very nice pictures. I saw the canoes Hokule’a and Maisu. I saw Mau Piailug and the crew. I also saw high school students wearing traditional things. I saw Piailug’s ceremony. It was amazing!
