I am teaching middle school science at Na Wai Ola, a public charter school on the Big Island. I am starting a multi-disciplinary class focusing on the ocean, and our relationship to it, which will blend science, art, and literature. I am looking for books, stories, poetry, and film suitable for 11 to 15 year olds which deal with the ocean (and everything in it) from a Hawaiian perspective. Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful and greatly appreciated.
